I finally did my taxes, and here is the final tally for what I spent on my classroom in 2008.
Becker’s Parent-Teacher Store: $128.90
Barnes and Noble: $404.75
Staples/Office Max: $279.90
Wal*Mart/Target/etc.: $317.05
Total: $1130.40
Eeek! Apparently I did my part to stimulate the economy.
But notice 89% of what I spent is on books and supplies for the kids to use!
By comparison, so far I’ve spent $270.06 this year which unfortunately puts me on track to spend just as much as last year. I spent as much at Becker’s in January and February as I did in all of last year getting books for how we wanted to do PSSA Prep. But, I’ve bought only two books at Barnes and Noble; that’s pretty good! (The only way for me to not spend money there is to just not go.
)
Hopefully you are getting some money back! You spent a lot!!! I am actually getting money for the first time in 6+ years! WooHoo! Hooray for claiming 0!!!
I used to claim zero, until I wasn’t going to see any of my big $5K raise a few years ago so I switched it to claiming 1. I’m only getting back $250 – I have never gotten so little back! See, that’s how Bush got us with that $600 rebate last May – it comes out of your next year’s refund, because that’s about how short I am!
And here I sit in the BN cafe finishing grades, about to buy three American Girl novels because they’re buy two get one free, and they’re so cute!
I’m a sucker for books. I’m a bookaholic.
