Here’s a list of who’s who.
Principal Pretty: My current principal. This is her third year as a principal after twelve years as a building support teacher and typing teacher back in the 70s.
Fashionista: One of my grade partners. We’ve been teaching together for four years now.
Popular Science Guy: Sixth grade teacher and my former grade partner. He’s been teaching for over ten years.
Union-Lemming: Sixth grade teacher who’s been teaching for only two years but bitches and moans like a twenty-year veteran.
SPED: Sixth grade special ed teacher.
Special Ed Barbie: 5th grade special ed teacher. She wants to be tan so she wears self-tanner that has a tendency to turn orange and look really unnatural in winter. At a report card conference she kept leaning her chin on her hand, and the heel of her hand turned orange. Also, she keeps lightening her hair; she said he stylist told her to bring in a piece of blank paper so she could match it.
Dr. Glinda: Building support teacher. She runs RtI, does initial testing for kids and leads the teams for finding interventions for struggling students. Until last year, she taught music for fifteen years.
Previous Principal: The principal who hired me, and who has since moved up to district administration.
Principal Friend: My mentor from when I first started here. It’s eerie how much we think alike. We are great friends outside of school.
Mrs. Librarian: Another good friend. She’s my sounding board when I need to vent this year.
Mr. Gym: Gym teacher. Fun guy, very laid back, everybody loves him.
Chatty Cathy: One of two art teachers. This is her first year in elementary after like thirteen years in junior high.
AP: Our part-time Assistant Principal who used to teach high school math. Thank goodness, because he is able to bring (back) some discipline and order!
Mr. Bando: band teacher who’s been teaching for over 30 years, extremely pro-Union
MusicMan: music teacher. He’s been in the district for years but at my school for only two. He does karaoke and watches Disney musicals.
Principal Prissy: principal at another school in the district. If I ever have to work for her, I will quit. Too many incidents to mention here.
